Who cares?
Intentions are worthless without action. Action is misguided without awareness. And awareness is vital to developing and maintaining a successful career.
Without awareness you are blindly moving through a space crowded with others who are hyperaware and if not in front of you now, will be soon.
If you have ever received a performance appraisal and been surprised by the outcome, you are unaware of the cause and effect of your intentions.
Your intentions set up the cause and effect.
If you intend to be on time for meetings but consistently allow a last minute call or interruption to cause you to be late, your intentions are worthless.
"The road to hell is paved with good intentions", or so said Henry G. Bohn in 1855.
Successfully navigating your career path requires you to be aware of each element of your career in the moment.
Consider your:
- current communication style
- attitude
- work ethic
- skill and knowledge level
- social interactions
- opportunities to explore or accept and when
- level of discontent or satisfaction
This is worth repeating ...
Without awareness you are blindly moving through a space crowded with others who are hyperaware and if not in front of you now, will be soon.
Trying is not doing. Wanting is not having. Good intentions are not enough.
How badly do you want it?
